Your starting point for fine piercing jewellery is a little more limited with a fresh piercing. Initial cartilage piercing requires a longer pin and a higher thickness as the newly pierced ear swells and takes time (3-6 months) for the ear cartilage to heal completely and look normal. Of course, after going through the full healing process, the earring for the initial ear piercing doesn’t look well set. Ear swelling subsides and excessive length of the barbell (pin) becomes unnecessary. Therefore, it is best to do your initial ear piercing with inexpensive jewellery made from steel or titanium. Wait for complete healing, let the ear cartilage “cool down” and after that you can, without regretting the money spent on the initial piercing jewellery (a titanium earring completely processed for new ear piercing costs around £10-£30)  change your ear stack for luxury and stylish ear piercing jewellery.

Jewellery Style

Often consumers can be divided into “basic design”,  “flirty design”, “minimalist design” or “design by mood”.

Basic jewellery design is popular for all well-known shapes: stars, flowers, crescents, classic gemstone shapes such as marquise or round .. This is the “safest” and most common jewellery design, as it suits any style and is compatible with each other. There is no need to put in a lot of effort, buying a classic single diamond stud, you can be sure that it will fit any of your necklaces or beads, it can be easly combined with pearl earrings in your lobes or rock-style skull earrings.

Flirty earring design it’s more about combining colors and playfulness in jewellery style. Rainbow-gemstone charms hanging from little huggie-hoops and playing in the light, threader-earrings, threaded so that the ends dangle and attract more attention to the face.. A floral, feminine jewellery style that gives a touch of playfulness, flirt and a positive vibe. The great thing about this style of jewelry is that it can instantly liven up and make more vivid simple outfits. Indeed, sparkling multi-colored gemstones in your ears, lotus earrings in helix or a few dainty neckleces with flower-motif pendants make a plain white T-shirt and jeans look much more flirty.

Minimalist Ear Piercing Designs often require a completely non-minimal approach :). As you know, there is nothing more difficult than creating something stylish so that it looks “effortless and minimal”. This style is most popular with Asian women, as it is similar to the cultural (laconic) styles of many Asian countries. Represents simple geometric shapes such as bars, triangles, squares and single gemstone stud earrings.

Design by the mood is mix of everything. Many women like to stick to one or two styles of clothing, but to change them depending on fashion and mood. They buy a variety of earrings, necklaces and bracelets and mix them up according to the style or trend that suits their mood. They can change their hairstyle and choose earrings depending on whether their hair is loose or done up. They change their jewellery styles from modern to classic or even vintage in mood and usually like to have a wide variety of different pieces of jewellery.

Materials

Some jewellery can be made of silver, but costs the price of gold, usually it is a branded jewellery from well-known designers. Someone will prefer to pay “for the name”, someone for a unique design, others for the expensive material from which the pieces are made .. However, when choosing earrings or rings, it is important to know what exactly you are paying for. Gold is different. Below is a diagram that explains how much gold is in the different alloys.

What is the purest gold? 9 carat 14 carat 18 carat 24k gold or 100 per cent gold.

Earring Backing System

Butterfly Backs are the most common type of earring back. You secure earrings with a butterfly back by simply sliding the back right up the earring post until the earring is firmly in place. These backs are most often used for studs.

Screw On Backs. If you want a little more security, opt for a screw back. Instead of a smooth post, screw back earrings have a grooved post that requires you to screw the earring in place. Screw backs are often used on expensive varieties, like diamond studs. They are comfortable for luxury ear piercing jewellery as cartilage part of the ear is more hard than lobe and requires a more tight grip. Screw backs allow you to securly set your helix earrings and look better from the back of the ear than standard butterfly-backs.

Push Fit Piercing System. Flat Push Fit Backs have a top with a super thin, slightly bent post that you insert into the hollow post backing. This system commonly used in piercing earrings for tragus, helix, rook and other cartilage piercings.

Screw In Piercing System. Almost the same as Screw On Backs, but instead of screwing the back onto the threaded post, you screw it into the post (it is hollow inside, but has a thread). Also used for ear piercing jewellery.

There is no advice here. Many people like to screw backs onto or into the posts, it gives them more security, others prefer push-fits  as it is easier than screwing. The choice is yours. The main thing is to choose a reliable brand of jewellery and remember your own responsibility in the use of it. For example, when you’re ready to remove the earring, you will need to use both of your hands for any system of backing. Please note that the piercings are very robust but small in size. Try to always hold the earring with both hands and take it off and put it on in a place where, if it falls, you can find it. Leave the jewellery at home when going swimming.

Service

The last thing on our list, but often the first in importance when you’re  about to choose a new piece of fine jewellery. When you make a purchase, you want more than just an item. You want a nice pleasent service and the confidence that the seller is interested in helping you in any way. Whether it is consultation, answering questions, returning or replacing goods .. When you buy something exclusive that should adorn you, give a good mood for you, you should be confident in the seller, you should understand that they treat you personally and really listen to you. You do not want to sit at the computer all day long and enter reference numbers for a robot that will give you the same type of answers, you do not want to write endless emails to “John”, who will be replaced the next day by “Jenny”, who will ask you the same questions again, and then will be replaced by someone else. You want a service with full respect and understanding of your needs and desires. And you are right about that.

You will always find a personal, delicate and friendly approach in our company. Lena Cohen Jewellery is a family-owned brand, 80% of whose clients are regular customers. Our family has been in the jewellery business for over 20 years.
