Wearing multiple earrings when it comes to women of a certain age…. what are your thoughts???

I am a woman of 56 and a couple of years ago I had extra holes pierced in my ears – I now have 6 holes in total. When I wore my hair down, I often didn’t bother wearing earrings in the top holes. Now that I’m more comfortable with my hair updo, so my ears are on show, I want to be able to play with my piercings, but I’ve heard that women of my age and above shouldn’t wear multiple earrings!, well I wasn’t having any of that!, I’m 56 not 256 and even then, who dictates what we can or can’t do. So, I think a large part of this depends on our own individual style…..more and more I’m seeing beautiful classic styles of piercings with a modern twist that allows us more mature sexy ladies to adorn our ears with multiple piercings in one or both ears and it looks fabulous!!!, so fabulous that my 27 year old daughter keeps on asking if she can borrow them!….not a chance😆

In recent years the trend for wearing multiple hoops, threaders, mismatched earrings and studs has sky rocketed. An ear dotted with several piercings (preferably in gold with diamonds and precious gems) has become a must have accessory and has been given the new terminology of  “curated ear”. With tens of thousands of posts featuring jewelled piercings and having its very own insta hashtag, the inspiration out there is awesome. While this look initially started with young ladies in their late teen and 20’s, now more and more hip, chic, stylish women in their 30’s, 40’s & 50’s have adopted this style, in fact they have dominated it over the last year.

In a by-gone era when middle aged meant twin-sets and sensible lace ups , todays  women in their prime are at the fore front of fashion at all levels especially where piercings are concerned and creating a sophisticated, sexy curated ear consisting of  at least 2 or more piercings from the lower lobe to the upper helix and anywhere in between is on the rise. Therefore I say to all women out there who want to have multiple piercings, but are still worried, concerned, a little self conscious of their age……GO FOR IT!!!, remember you can always start slow and build up.
